Chad Update - 10 Days Out: Major Change - and Major Praise!

I‘m not a nervous flyer - Dad was a Delta pilot and I LOVE to fly. I’m an OCD planner - I want everything settled, in place, and confirmed. You know, all the things that you shouldn’t be when joining a mission trip to Africa. =)

Well, my flexibility was tested this week when we got word that our Air France return flight was canceled and we might lose two days in Chad. After some great work by our team and our travel agent, we canceled Air France in its entirety, booked Turkish through Istanbul, and our schedule is back on track (for now!).

No need to complain - just grateful that we got things in order so quickly - and the tickets ended up being cheaper!

And here’s the big news: as hinted in my prior update, the supporters of our trip (many of you!) have been so gracious that we have MORE than covered our costs, we have helped support the costs of the rest of our team, AND our overall team has raised enough funds to FULLY FUND the drilling of our well in Chad.

But the story gets better…..

Just a day before we gathered to discuss logistics and funding, Scott (in country) was being asked to consider drilling a separate well for another village - but it was going to cost more than double the cost of a normal well. He prayed and trusted that God would provide. Later that day, our pastors let him know that we would cover the cost of our well - meaning God had provided the funds for that other well before Scott even knew it!!

To say we are humbled, grateful, and excited is just scratching the surface of all our feels. 🥹

10 days to go. Angela has prepped over 400 flash cards for ESL classes, plus Scripture verses. We’re gathering final supplies and goodies to bless our missionaries. And praying that all the snacks fit in our luggage for the 30+ hours of travel time (each way).

As we currently sit in single-digit temperatures, we’re longing for low-90s and sweet fellowship with our team and the Downings.

We ask that you pray for logistics of our travel and endurance as it will be longer than originally planned. We ask that you pray for the villages and people we will visit - and that we bring a spirit of grace, love, and peace. And we ask that you pray for safety, health, and strength.

To God be the glory!
